Knutby Kulturförening 130420. Try- new-techniques-day in Knutby.
Knutbygården - the local cultural community centre.
And what a glorious spring day it was.
Edda och mig.
Salmon and mushroom. Fried rice with onions and salad. Irene, the hostess, really spoild us.
Sticka vid tvåändstickningsbordet. Värdinnan, Irene, längst till höger.
Brave locals had come to try twined knitting - a technique known from the 17th century. Also two guests from Sticka. Hostess Irene far right.
After a partly rocky start, people got on with trying even harder stuff. Here's one person trying purling.....
...and succeding beautifully.
Yet another tried out patterns....
...with a fine result.
Här är bilden jag lovade. Visar hur jag håller garnerna i min högra hand.Vänster hand håller stickningen.
This pic shows how I hold the yarns in my right hand. The knitting is kept in check by my left hand.
At the other table other people tried naalbinding/single needle knitting, an ancient technique known as far back as the viking era. Edda Franzen taught them well.
Jag kikade lite på hur de gjorde.
I seeked a peak at how that is done.
This is one of Edda's little purses. Isn't it just too cute?
I left with two lovely mementos of the day. I really don't mind that the cultural centres logo/acronym says KUF (=oddball). I am one ;-)
